Paint prices - you tend to pay for what you get the more expensive the paint the better the quality of materials used to make the paint

A cheap paint (like a cheap car) will tend not to last as long as  a more expensive paint, the materials used to manufacture specialist paints can be very expensive and hence specialist paints tend to be more expensive than basic emulsions.

As a basic rule a basic paint will costs between $7-14 USD per litre

A specialist paint that is formulated to undertake a specific function can add another $7-14 USD  per litre  such as :-

Anti  Slip Floor coatings
Steel and cladding coatings
Anti Burglar paint
Anti Germ Hygiene coatings
Flame retardants
Ant Graffiti
Anti corrosion coatings ( Extend asset life)
Thermal Coatings ( Reduces energy bills)
Insecticide coatings ( Mosquito Kill and repellant paints reduce need for spraying with insecticides)
Eco friendly Insect Repellant paint
Anti Mould Paint
Water proof paint

Quantity orders can help bring the price down.

But you should  expect to  pay $7-14 for a good quality basic paint  and $14-28 per litre for a specialist paint depending on what function the paint has been formulated to deal with.

Note some of these specialist paints last for many years and have spent many years in research and development of global patents in developing these specialist paints.

It is important to look at the life cycle of the paint and the function of the paint as it can bring substantial life cycle savings when applied correctly.

A simple guide for a 2.5 litre tub of paint can be seen below with basic paints £8-38 pounds depending on qaulity. and specialist paints £15.74 - £58.00 for a 2.5 litre tub

Obviously with larger trade  quantities the price will come down.

There are different types of paints for different surfaces and agin the price can vary dramatically depending on the type of paint and its formulation. A different category is Specialist paints these are engineered and formulated to deal with a specific problem and the ingredients of the paint can be very expensive and the life of the active ingredient in the paint can last for years. So it is important to compare the costs over time.

Example of a specialist paint

The container used can also make a difference to the price of the paint.

Here is a range of different containers

The quality of paint can vary dramatically with different formulations and it is  the life of the paint per square foot or square meter that is important.

As a rule, the more expensive paint covers better and lasts longer.
